We have crafted a toothbrush for your dog using "Tango Chirimen," a kimono fabric passed down for over 300 years in the Tango region of Kyoto.
Tango Chirimen is characterized by its "shibo"—fine surface bumps created by weaving with highly twisted threads.
For this toothbrush, we use Tango Chirimen made from threads twisted approximately 3,000 times per meter.
The fine bumps created by the highly twisted threads gently contact the tooth surface, supporting your brushing by grabbing plaque and impurities.
Furthermore, because we use a soft, 100% silk fabric, it is gentle on the gums and can be used easily, even for dogs that dislike hard toothbrushes.
Make daily tooth brushing a cherished habit with your dog.
What is Tango Chirimen?
Tango Chirimen is a representative traditional Japanese silk fabric that has been passed down for over 300 years in the Tango region of northern Kyoto Prefecture.
Its greatest feature is the "shibo," the fine bumps that appear on the surface of the fabric.
By weaving with threads that have been given a strong twist, the fabric gains natural bumps, creating the soft texture and unique expression characteristic of Tango Chirimen.
Due to its delicate texture and high quality, it has long been used for high-end Japanese attire like kimono.
At Miyako, we tailor this Kyoto traditional craft into a form that can be incorporated into your daily life with your dog.
The bumps of Tango Chirimen support tooth brushing
The "shibo" characteristic of Tango Chirimen is created by giving the threads a strong twist.
By using threads twisted approximately 3,000 times per meter, the fabric is finished with fine bumps.
When these bumps touch the tooth surface, they make it easier to catch plaque and dirt, supporting your daily brushing.
This is adog toothbrush that leverages the structure of a fabric unique to traditional crafts, unlike ordinary toothbrushes.
Gentle comfort of 100% silk
We use 100% silk Tango Chirimen for the fabric.
Because it is a soft silk fabric, you can brush gently while being mindful of the gums.
Please use this as an item to help dogs who dislike toothbrushes get used to brushing little by little at their own pace.
Washable and reusable
After use, wash gently with water or lukewarm water and let it dry thoroughly.
Because it can be washed and used repeatedly, you can incorporate it into your daily tooth brushing habit.
As a general guideline, please replace it with a new one approximately every 2 weeks.
*The degree of wear varies depending on usage conditions and how your dog chews. If you notice any fraying or tearing of the fabric, please stop using it and replace it with a new one.
